About Canada For Venezuela
Canada For Venezuela is a non-profit awareness concept that I created to help educate Canadians on the ongoing political conflict that has occured in Venezuela for over a decade.
Mission
The problem that this campaign is aiming to tackle is ignorance. While Venezuela’s conflicts are horrific and worth knowing about, there is also a real risk in Venezuela’s quasi-dictatorship being replicated. This campaign seeks to educate Canadians on how Venezuela’s conflict came to be to, ultimately, help preserve democracy on a big picture level.
Poster Concept
This poster aims to shock viewers. It leverages people’s general knowledge of North Korea and the threat that they might present to draw in interest towards Venezuela. While Venezuela might not be risking nuclear war, the precedent being set is a risk to democracy that needs more awareness overall.
This concept can be further expanded upon by drawing comparisons to other shocking dictators from both contemporary and historical times such as Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Fidel Castro. All this in order to put Nicolás Maduro on that list.
Logo Design
The concept behind this logo design was to show Canada and Venezuela united. The pattern of the Venezuelan flag being placed in the shape of the maple leaf from Canada’s flag represents unity.
The raised fist as well as Canada’s name in all capitals helps represent the fighting spirit needed to fight for this cause. Venezuela’s name is in a light grey tone, all lowercase with a fading look to it. It is, however, also the ground on which the rest of the logo stands on.

Poster Concept
This poster concept is meant to invite people’s curiosity. They would be put around high-traffic areas such as colleges and universities as well as on the Google Display Network. The posters can also be the basis of a social media campaign that would be accompanied by research and real world stories.
The goal is to direct them to the website where they will be presented with the most up-to-date information on the situation as well as the general history. People need to know what exactly happened in Venezuela that caused a once prosperous democracy to become a dictatorship.
